Burgess hopes meeting former cricket captain simply not a PR exercise

The former New Zealand captain Mark Burgess hopes the view of former players are taken notice of and the meeting of former captains organised by New Zealand Cricket simply isn't a public relations exercise.

In the wake of criticism from former players over the handling of the sacking of Ross Taylor as captain last year, New Zealand Cricket organised Thursday's meeting in Auckland ahead of the third test against England.

President Stephen Boock and chief executive David White, both former internationals will speak at the meeting with around 20 former captains expected to attend.

Burgess says he's already written to Boock outlining some of his concerns, which includes wanting more board members with cricket experience.

Burgess hopes their comments are taken seriously.
