The New Zealand tennis player Marina Erakovic has won her first round singles match at the Family Circle Cup tournament in South Carolina.
Erakovic, who has been beaten in her opening matches at her last two tournaments, has beaten former world number five Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia in straight sets.
Erakovic will play third seed Sam Stosur in the second round of singles.
Serena Williams is the tournament top seed followed by Caroline Wozniacki.
