Lance Armstrong has decided not to compete in a Masters swimming championship in Texas after swimming's international governing body raised objections about his entry.
FINA issued a statement pointing out that athletes convicted of doping offences were barred from entering events sanctioned by the world swimming body.
No one had filed a grievance against Armstrong competing in an event which does not come under the umbrella of the US Anti-Doping Agency.
It would have been the banned cyclist's return to competitive sport.
