NZ Cricket releases draft constituion

5:44 pm on 8 April 2013

New Zealand Cricket has released a new draft constitution it hopes will appease some in the cricket community who've been highly critical of its off-field performance.

There are a number of recommended changes relating to the election of directors.

A group of former international players has been critical of a lack of playing experience on the current board.

The draft constitution says all board directors will be elected with no appointed members but vacancies will be advertised publicly and anyone can apply.

A five member appointments committee will then shortlist applicants to be recommended for election, with candidates then needing more than 50 percent of the vote at the AGM.

A special meeting to vote on whether or not to accept the draft constitution will be held in July.
