The English Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania is set to be released from hospital, 24 hours after suffering what were feared to be serious neck and back injuries in a fall at a meeting in the north of England.

A day after steering Auroras Pride to an upset victory in the Grand National at Aintree, the 23 year old Scot was airlifted to hospital in Newcastle after his fall at Hexham.

But after a precautionary MRI scan he's expected to be released later today.
