The former Australia flanker George Smith is one step closer to a return to the Wallabies, after his Japanese club Suntory approved his contract extension.
Originally contracted on a short-term deal until the end of May, the 32-year-old will remain with his Super Rugby side the ACT Brumbies until the end of the current season.
The move is likely to also clear Smith's way back into the frame for Wallabies selection ahead of the British and Irish Lions tour in June and July.
