ARU reports another big financial loss

The Australian Rugby Union has recorded another large deficit but predicts a welcome surplus 2013 this year with the halp of a blockbuster British and Irish Lions tour.

The ARU has reported a net deficit for the last financial year of $8.3 million, with gross expenditure increasing to just over $100 million.

Rugby's participation figures have passed the 300,000-player mark for the first time in the game's history.
