The West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has rewritten the Twenty20 cricket record book with the fastest century in the game.

Playing for the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the Indian Premier League, Gayle smashed 17 sixes and 13 fours against the Pune Warriors Tuesday night, on his way to an unbeaten 175 from 66 balls, bringing up his century off just 30 balls.

Gayle's fourth century in the IPL also helped the Royal Challengers to the highest Twenty20 score, 264 for three, and their winning margin was 130 runs.
