The All Whites striker Chris Wood appears certain to be plying his trade in England's second division again next season, after his Leicester City side lost 2-1 at home to Watford in the Championship.
With one game left, Leicester are a point outside the playoff places in seventh, while sixth-placed Bolton Wanderers have two games remaining - so the Foxes' promotion push seems doomed.
Watford can still be automatically promoted but second-placed Hull City are poised for a return to the Premier League if they can win at lowly Barnsley tomorrow, to join champions Cardiff City in the top flight next season.
