Reading, QPR relegated, Gunners and champs draw

Reading and Queen's Park Rangers have both been relegated from the English Premier League football competition after a scoreless draw at Reading's Madesjki Stadium.

Arsenal drew 1-1 with newly crowned champions Manchester United in London, while Chelsea beat visitors Swansea 2-0 to climb above the Gunners to third on the table.

Playing at the Emirates for the first time since his 24 million pound transfer to Old Trafford last year, Robin Van Persie won then scored a penalty against his old team , after Theo Walcott scored Arsenal's goal inside two minutes.

Arsenal had to form a guard of honour for United before the start of the game.

The draw could be costly for Arsenal, who failed to reclaim third place from Chelsea and now find their hold on the fourth and final Champions League qualifying place under threat from Tottenham Hotspur.

And it could have removed the last bit of motivation for United this season - the champions now can't better Chelsea's record Premier League points haul of 95.

Across London at Stamford Bridge, two goals in the last four minutes of the first half from Oscar and a Frank Lampard penalty saw Chelsea home. It was Lampard's 201st goal for Chelsea.
