Scottish rugby officials are casting their net wide for the new national coach if reports are anything to go by.

The Edinburgh Evening News says Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder is now the leading candidate, while Wayne Smith, Ewen McKenzie and alan Solomons have also been mentioned.

Blackadder played for Edinburgh and was also a Scotland assistant coach before moving back to New Zealand.

Scott Johnson has recently taken on the director of rugby role for Scotland but will continue as interim head coach until they make a permanent appointment.
