The Crusaders and former All Blacks halfback Andrew Ellis has re-signed with the New Zealand Rugby Union and the Super Rugby franchise for a further two years.

The 29-year-old Ellis will play his 100th Super match for the Crusaders against the Blues in Christchurch on Saturday night.

The chief executive of the Crusaders, Hamish Riach, says Ellis is an exceptional player, whose professionalism and commitment have made him a special leader in the team.

Ellis' last test was against France in the 2011 World Cup final.
