Moyes goes to Old Trafford

David Moyes has held talks with Manchester United's squad and coaching staff after starting work at his new English football club in an unofficial capacity.

The Scot met with Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill as well as members of United's backroom staff.

Moyes arrived at United's Carrington training ground on his own but left with Ferguson to attend the League Managers' Association awards in London.

Moyes doesn't officially replace Ferguson at Old Trafford until July 1st.

71-year-old Ferguson announced his retirement after 26 years in charge at United and handpicked Moyes as his successor.

The meetings were driven by Moyes's desire to give staff at Old Trafford and Goodison Park clarity about their future before they go on holiday.

His first-team coach at Everton, Jimmy Lumsden, is tipped to join him at United.
