The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has been beaten in the first round of singles at the Strasbourg International, but she's still alive in the doubles.
Unseeded Erakovic lost a marathon singles match against the Romanian 5th seed Monica Niculescu in a third set tiebreaker.
But in the first round of doubles Erakovic and her Zimbabwean partner Cara Black beat a Serbian-Georgian combination 7-6 6-4.
