Nadal, Djokovic on Roland Garros collision course

The defending French Open tennis champion Rafael Nadal has been put on track for a semi-final showdown with the world number one Novak Djokovic in this year's tournament in Paris.

And second-seeded Swiss great Roger Federer can't play either of them before the final.

The draw for the French Open has Nadal chasing a record eighth title at Roland Garros, but he's in the same half of the draw as the Serb Djokovic, who the Spanish claycourt master beat in last year's final.

Nadal will play Germany's Daniel Brands in the first round, while Djokovic will meet Belgian David Goffin.

Federer begins with a match against unknown Spanish qualifier Pablo Carreno-Busta, and the 17-time grand slam champion is seeded to face fourth seeded Spaniard and Auckland champion David Ferrer of Spain in the semis.

On the women's side, the world number one Serena Williams plays Georgia's Anna Tatishvili in the first round, on her way to a potential quarter-final against former number one, Caroline Wozniacki.

The New Zealand number one Marina Erakovic has been handed a possibly favourable draw - she meets unseeded British player Elena Baltacha in the first round. Baltacha, the former British number one, is coming back from injury and has a protected ranking allowing her entry to the main draw in Paris.
