Taurua to stand down as Magic coach

The coach of the Waikato-Bay of Plenty netball team Noeline Taurua is to end her 11-year tenure with the province, announcing she'll be standing down at the conclusion of the trans-Tasman competition.

Under Taurua's guidance the Magic have been only team to make the semi-finals every year, the only team to make three grand finals and New Zealand team to win the competition.

Taurua is just one of two coaches, along with Jane Woodlands-Thompson of the Adelaide Thunderbirds, who've remained in their roles since the trans-Tasman competition was launched in 2008.

Before the trans-Tasman competition Taurua spent five years years coaching the Magic in the domestic netball competition, the National Bank Cup, winning the title in 2005 and 2006.
