New Zealand's Olympic champion kayaker Lisa Carrington has qualified for tonight's final of the K1 500 metres at the latest world cup event in Poznan, Poland.

Carrington was second in her heat and second in her semi-final overnight and will race the final only hours before the heats of her specialist event the K1 200.

Last week at a world cup event in the Czech Republic Carrington claimed her first major title in the 500 metres.

In the K2 500 metres, the New Zealanders Teneale Hatton and Rachael Dodwell have claimed the last place in tonight's final after placing fourth in their heat and third in the semi-final.
