New Zealand's Olympic yachting champions Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie have dropped to third in the women's 470 class at the European championships in Italy.
France's 2012 Olympic team of Camille Lecointre and Mathildre Geron sealed two race wins to jump ahead of Aleh and Powrie, who had a few technical issues.
The medal stage is on Saturday in Formia - Saturday night in New Zealand.
