The league career of the young New South Wales and Canberra star Blake Ferguson is in the balance following the NRL's decision to suspended the utility back's registration after police charged him with indecent assault.

23 year old Ferguson was charged by police last night following an incident at a bar on Sunday in south Sydney.

The NRL immediately suspending his registration for repeated behavioural issues involving alcohol abuse.

Ferguson was on his final warning at the Raiders after missing a recovery session in round one of this season to go drinking with a teammate, and there've been a string of other indiscretions since.

New South Wales coach Laurie Daly will name a replacement later this morning for utility back Ferguson in the Blues squad for the second State of Origin match next Wednesday.
