The former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has announced that he'll retire from all cricket in October.

The 38-year-old, who ended his international career in November last year, is currently playing for the English county Surrey.

Ponting's last games will be for the Mumbai Indians, his Indian Premier League franchise, in the Champions League.

Test cricket's second highest run-scorer says he's considering a couple of cricket media opportunities as his next career move, but he's also relishing the prospect of doing more charity work and being with his family.
