Black Sticks women miss out on bronze

The Black Sticks Women have lost the bronze-medal match going down 3-2 to Korea in a dramatic shoot-out at the World League in Rotterdam.

It brought an end to a pulsating third place playoff which could half gone either way with the score 3-3 at full time.

The first half was a blockbuster with the sides sharing six goals as the game flew from end to end with stalwarts Krystal Forgesson, Katie Glynn and Kayla Sharland all getting on the board.

The Black Sticks next chance to qualify directly for the 2014 World Cup is by winning the Oceania Cup in Taranaki in October and progressing as one of the five Continental Champions.

Korea 3 (HAN Hye Lyoung x2, PARK Seung, ). HT: 3-3

Penalty shoot-out: 3-2 to Korea. Scorers were Eun Bi Cheon, Eun Ji Cho, Seung Park and Kayla Sharland and Samantha Charlton.
