The Central Pulse have finished 5th in the trans-Tasman netball competition after beating 6th placed Southern Steel 73-64 in Invercargil.
In the showdown to find New Zealand's second best team behind the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, a dominant opening quarter set Pulse on their way.
Once in front, the Pulse dictated and were never seriously threatened, going on to seal their eighth win of the season and a best-ever finish for the franchise.
The Magic could grab third spot for the play-offs if they score a big win over the Northern Mystics tonight.
