Black Caps captain leads from the front

The New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum led from the front to help the Black Caps defeat England by five runs in an high-scoring Twenty20 international at the Oval.

McCullum muscled his way to 68 from 48 deliveries while opener Hamish Rutherford, who didn't feature in the Champions Trophy, lofted four sixes in his 62 from 35 balls.

England needed six off the final ball to take the game into a super over but Ravi Bopara, who played in the side who lost the Champions Trophy final against India by the same margin, could manage only one.

England needed 16 off the last over and Corey Anderson had six hit off his first delivery, but then conceded just four more.

The teams meet again at the Oval on Friday night in the final match of New Zealand's tour.
