8:11 am on 30 June 2013

The New Zealand tennis number one, Marina Erakovic, has blown a chance to earn her best Grand Slam singles result, losing 1-6 7-5 6-3 to the British hope, Laura Robson, in her third round match at Wimbledon.

Erakovic dominated the first set and had a chance to serve for the match at 5-3 in the second, before she faltered to allow the 19-year-old Brit back into the match.

Robson reeled off eight matches in a row to win the set and take a 4-0 lead in the decider.

The New Zealander briefly threatened a revival, but Robson held her nerve to close the match out.

In the doubles Erakovic and Cara Black were beaten by Canadian Eugenie Bouchard and Croatia's Petra Martic 7-6(6) 7-6(4) in the second round.
