Late try sends Blues down in Durban

6:14 am on 30 June 2013

The Blues' Super Rugby playoff hopes have suffered a huge blow in Durban as the Sharks scored a last-gasp try to steal a 22-20 win.

The Sharks dominated possession and territory in the first half and went to the break with a 17-5 leaf.

However the Blues struck back in the second spell with two tries to the wing, Frank Halai, and one for Rene Ranger to put them in front.

But the Sharks had the final say, continuing to threaten the Blues' line in the dying stages and were rewarded with the match-winner.

The Blues have 44 competition points and sit eighth in the overall standings.
