The English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur celebrated the return of England striker Jermaine Defoe by romping to a 4-1 semi-final first leg League Cup win over the Championship club Burnley in London.
Defoe, who spent four years at Spurs before moving to Portsmouth a year ago, was paraded before the home fans at White Hart Lane before kick-off after rejoining from Portsmouth for around $37 million.
A lacklustre Spurs were behind 1-0 at half time after an inspired Burnley performance but then notched up four goals in 21 minutes and are now odds-on favourites to meet Manchester United in the final in March.
United are expected to cruise past Derby County in their two-legged semi-final beginning tomorrow.
