Warriner wins Half Ironman race in Tauranga

The top Northland Ironman competitor Samantha Warriner has won the Port of Tauranga Half Ironman at Mount Maunganui in record time.

Warriner clocked 4 hours 10 minutes and 47 seconds for the two kilometre swim, 90 kilometres bike and 21 kilometre run, breaking the 13 year old race record by two minutes and thirty seconds.

Two time winner Jo Lawn finished in second eight minutes behind Warriner.

Taupo's Duncan Milne took out the men's title for the first time, holding off a fast finish by eight time champion Cameron Brown.
