Manchester City have confirmed their aborted bid for Brazilian superstar Kaka was preceded by failed attempts to sign Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon, Barcelona's Thierry Henry and the Valencia pair David Villa and David Silva.
City's executive chairman Garry Cook says the club stopped negotiations for the four players because the demands from both the clubs and players were ludicrous.
