Swiss win in Taupo, NZ 14th after technical issue

The New Zealand A1GP driver Chris van der Drift says a technical glitch caused him to finish 14th in the feature race at the New Zealand round of the A1GP motor racing series at Taupo.

Van der Drift says an anti stall electronic system came on in the first lap and he knew he had no chance of a good finish from that point.

Chris van der Drift says his nightmare race just got worse when he was then hit from behind by the Lebanese car in the same lap.

A poor start from 10th on the grid also didn't help.

Earlier New Zealand finished fifth in the sprint race after starting from sixth on the grid.

Team Ireland won that race.

Switzerland won the race, Ireland were second and Portugal third.

New Zealand are now sixth overall.

Ireland lead the series and Switzerland are second.
