O'Driscoll to carry on as Ireland coach

9:51 am on 28 January 2009

Brian O'Driscoll will continue to lead Ireland into this season's Six Nations rugby campaign after he was given the green light by coach Declan Kidney.

The 88-times capped Dubliner has led Ireland for a record 52 times since he took over from Keith Wood back in 2004.

Many expected that Lions contender Paul O'Connell would take over the reins.

However, Kidney continued with O'Driscoll as captain during the autumn internationals, and has given him another vote of confidence.
