It'll be an Old Firm Scottish League Cup final between Celtic and Rangers next month and the hoops have an Australian to thank for it.

Celtic's Socceroos striker Scott McDonald scored two penalties in a dramatic shoot-out against Dundee United in the semi-final in Glasgow, his second penalty coming after United's Willo Flood sent his second kick crashing over Artur Boruc's bar.

Boruc had already saved from Lee Wilkie while Lukasz Zaluska saved from Glenn Loovens.

Despite the lack of goals during normal play, the match was packed full of action with both teams playing fast, free-flowing football.

McDonald held his nerve to win the shoot-out 11-10 after the game finished 0-0 after extra-time.

Rangers defeated Falkirk in the other semi-final.
