TEAM NZ'S DEAN BARKER LINES UP AGAINST RUSSELL COUTTS IN LV REGATTA

3:03 pm on 31 January 2009

Team New Zealand skipper Dean Barker will line up against his one-time mentor Russell Coutts in the main encounter at the Louis Vuitton regatta which goes into its second day in Auckland today.

Team New Zealand and BMW Oracle will sail the race using the American teams pair of boats, pitting Barker and Coutts together for the first time on the big boats, since the America's Cup in Auckland six years ago.

Ten team's share two pairs of America's Cup boats, which yesterday saw the cup holder Alinghi sailing a boat belonging to Team New Zealand - the team it faced in the finals in Valencia 18 months ago.

Alinghi skipper Ed Baird says it was interesting to be on a boat they'd previously only seen from a distance.
