The New Zealand men's hockey team has lost its latest match 4-1 to Holland at the Punjab Gold Cup in India.

It was nil all up until the 24th minute when the Black Sticks conceded a reverse stick field goal from the top of the circle.

The Dutch went 2-0 up in the 31st minute.

In the second half the Dutch went 3-0 up in the 41st minute from a penalty corner direct hit.

The New Zealander Nick Haig scored his first goal for his country with a well taken drag flick from a penalty corner in the 63rd minute.

The Dutch then went further ahead in the 69th minute with a deflection from a strong ball into the circle.

There were further opportunities for both sides and New Zealand had a goal disallowed.

James Nation played his 100th game for New Zealand in the match.
