Lakers get revenge over Celtics

4:09 pm on 7 February 2009

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball side have put their previous visit to the Boston Celtics behind them and overcame their bitter NBA rivals 110-109 in a gritty overtime victory.

Lamar Odom made two free throws with 16 seconds left to give the Lakers a 40-9 record for the season on their first return to Boston since being defeated in the deciding game of last year's NBA finals.

Boston's Ray Allen fell to the floor looking for a foul as he tried for a final shot in the last few seconds but there was no whistle and the Celtics' 12-game winning streak was over.

Los Angeles guard Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 26 points on 10-for-29 shooting.
