Melbourne has denied Townsville a home quarter-final in the Australian National Basketball league after overpowering the visitors 103-87.
Townsville arrived in Melbourne full of confidence following a morale-boosting last start win over South Dragons, however the Tigers proved too strong leading at all changes.
A victory for Townsville would have ensured a top four finish but they now have a nervous wait for results over the weekend which could see them finish as low as sixth.
The Tigers are already assured of a top two spot and passage into the second week of the finals.
Meanwhile the Breakers can secure a home quarter-final tonight if they beat Cairns at the North Shore Events Centre.
