The Olympic bronze medallist Sam Bewley has finished strongly to win the gruelling New Zealand Ominium cycling title in Wanganui.

The Rotorua rider on Saturday won the final three disciplines of the five-event championship.

Auckland's Andy Williams, third last year, put down the challenge by winning the 200m time trial and 5km scratch race to establish a healthy advantage.

However Bewley showed the benefit of his recent endurance training to dominate the final three events.

He took out the 3000m pursuit from Auckland's Aaron Gate, the 15km points race from Auckland's Alex Cull and the final 1km time trial from Auckland's Jono Hailstone.
