Senior Indian politician wants IPL rescheduled

A senior Indian politician wants Indian cricket's Twenty20 Premier League postponed because it clashes with next month's general elections.

The multi-million dollar tournament is due to be played from April 10 to May 24, while the parliamentary elections will be held in five phases between April 16 and May 13.

India's home minister P. Chidambaram says he's asked the home secretary to see if the IPL can be rescheduled because the election dates can't be altered.

Most of the world's leading cricketers will be playing in the second edition of the Twenty20 tournament.
