The Former men's tennis number one Carlos Moya has put his career on hold for an "indefinite time" because of a hip-bone injury.

The 45th-ranked Moya says it's a real hammer blow, as he wasn't expecting this and it has put a halt to all his plans.

He says he's had pains over the last few months but had hoped it wasn't serious.

The 32-year-old is suffering from a lesion to a tendon and ischium on his hip-bone and will not be able to compete in the upcoming Indian Wells and Miami tournaments while he awaits test results.

Moya, who turned professional in 1995, is a claycourt specialist who won the French Open in 1998 and peaked as world No.1 in March 1999.
