Alonso says Renault and others off the pace

The Renault Formula One driver Fernando Alonso has delivered a somber assessment of his chances this season.

He says the times being set by Ferrari, Brawn and BMW are for the moment out of reach, and Toyota also looks quick.

The 2005 and 2006 world champion says there are three or four teams who are a step ahead of Renault, but he does not expect this season to be a closed battle between Ferrari and McLaren.

The season starts in Melbourne on March the 29th.
