Brown named top NZ golfer for 2008

The golfer Mark Brown has been named the New Zealand Player of the Year and overall New Zealand Golfer of the Year at the 2009 New Zealand Golf Awards in Queenstown.

Brown won the Australasian Tour Order of Merit, was third in the Asian Order of Merit and had back to back wins at the Johnnie Walker Classic and the Sail Open in India.

Danny Lee was also a double winner, presented with the New Zealand Male Amateur of the Year and the 2008 Achievement of the Year Awards.

The Rotorua golfer became the youngest ever amateur to win the US Amateur Championship in 2008.

Canterbury's Dana Kim was awarded the Female Amateur of the Year and Bay of Plenty's Jay Carter PGA Trainee of the Year.
