The 23 year old Texan Martin Piller has slipped to 10 under par and is now three shots behind the new leader, another American, Jim Herman.
Tauranga's Josh Gaery is a shot behind sharing second place with a third american Jeff Gove.
Fellow New Zealanders Grant Waite and Steven Alker are at 11 under and 10 under respectively.
There are eleven holes to play in the final round.
