Mickelson closes in on Tiger

The American left-hander Phil Mickelson is back at number two in the world golf rankings, and within half a point of Tiger Woods who's been slow to strike form since his return from knee surgery.

Depending on Wood's performance at Arnold Palmer's tournament at the end of this month, Mickelson could become world number one if he does well in his next tournament, the Houston Open in early April.

The New Zealand Open champion from the weekend, American Alex Prugh has jumped more than 200 places to number 250.
