The 21 year old Queensland swimmer Nick D'Arcy qualified last night for Australia's team to the world championships, but he might be going to jail instead.

Darcy qualified for the world championships in Rome by winning the 200 metres butterfly last night at the Australian champioonships, but he still awaits sentencing next week on an assault charge which cost him his place in Australia's Olympic team to Beijing.

D'Arcy was kicked off the team for assaulting fellow swimmer Simon Cowley at a Sydney nightclub. The young Queenslander pleaded guilty to the charge, and a jail term is possible.
