The defending V8 Supercar champion Jamie Whincup has signalled his intentions with a blistering start to the 2009 season at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
Whincup snared pole position for tomorrow and and Sunday's 250km races, dominating qualifying and coming out fastest in the top 10 shootout in his Ford Falcon, edging out Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom with Craig Lowndes third fastest.
Garth Tander qualified the first of the Holdens in fourth the Holden Racing Team driver will share the second row of the grid with Lowndes for the opening race.
