White Ferns skipper laments loss

The New Zealand women's cricket captain Haidee Tiffin doesn't regret the decision to beat first in in the World Cup final in Sydney but she says a lack of consistent partnerships left them about 40 runs short of a target they could have defended.

England won by four wickets and Tiffin says they deserved to because they bowled and fielded so well.

New Zealand were bowled out for 166 in 47 overs with Wellington's Lucy Doolan top scoring with 48, then taking three wickets.

Doolan came in with the White Fern struggling at 101 for 7 and combined with Nicola Browne for a 63 run eighth wicket partnership.

Browne was left not out on 25.
