Mills escapes selectors axe

Swing bowler Kyle Mills has escaped the selectors axe, being named in the New Zealand cricket squad for the second test against India starting in Napier on Thursday.

Mills has been out of form with the ball during he one day series and again failed to trouble to the Indian batsmen in the ten wicket loss in the first test in Hamilton.

Mills has no doubt been helped by the unavailablility of allrounder Jacob Oram who's still not considered to be at full match fitness and the Northern Districts medium pace Brent Arnel who has a side strain.

Pace bowler Iain O'Brien and batsman Daniel Flynn picked up minor injuries in the Hamilton test but are expected to be right for the Napier test.

With Jeetan Patel in the squad Mills could yet miss out with the Black Caps having the option of two spinners, although the small McLean Park boundaries may count against that.
