Hurricanes lose to Sharks as Chiefs become top NZ side

The Hurricanes have been beaten 33-17 by the Sharks in Durban this morning and have now slipped to sixth place in the Super 14 rugby competition.

The Hurricanes led 10-9 at halftime but two mistakes in two minutes saw the Sharks score twice to set up the win and retain their place as competition leaders.

The Chiefs are now the top placed New Zealand side and second in the competition after coming from behind to beat the Lions in Hamilton last night. The Chiefs scored 26 points in the last 20 minutes to win 36-29.

In other games the Waratahs beat the Stormers 12-6 In Sydney and the Brumbies beat the Cheetahs 40-27 in Bloemfontein.
