Victoria Azarenka, the 19-year-old from Belarus, beat world tennis number one Serena Williams 6-3 6-1 to win the Sony Ericsson Open on Saturday.
Williams, heavily strapped on her left-thigh, never looked fully mobile and was comfortably beaten in 71 minutes. The win is the first top tier triumph for Azarenka.
Her win here will elevate her to number eight in the world when the new rankings are released on Monday. Williams will remain number, giving her a total of 71 weeks at the top.
