Bevan Docherty wins New Plymouth World Cup Triathlon

New Zealand's Bevan Docherty has won the World Cup triathlon in New Plymouth .

The Beijing Olympics bronze medalist was 10 seconds ahead of New Plymouth's Clark Ellice and Germany's Andreas Raelert.

One of the New Zealand favourites, Kris Gemmell, crashed heavily on the bike leg.

Kirsten Sweetland from Canada won the women 's race from Nicky Samuels, with Japan's

Kiyomi Niwata third ahead of another New Zealander, Andrea Hewitt.
