Moa to miss Super 14 match

9:46 am on 8 April 2009

The Blues halfback Taniela Moa will miss Friday's Super 14 match against the Lions at Eden park as a part of his punishment for being involved in a bottle throwing incident last month.

Moa has accepted the suspension as part of the misconduct process he is going through with the Blues and the New Zealand Rugby Union.

NZRU General Manager of Professional Rugby Neil Sorenson says it would not be appropriate for him to be playing while he is still going through the misconduct process.

Moa's misconduct hearing is scheduled to take place next week.

The potential penalties for misconduct, if proven, are substantial and can include a formal warning, a fine, suspension from playing and / or a termination of a player's contract.
